So the days keep disappearing at what seems, to me, an alarming rate...and I am still loving every moment.

Two weekends ago, I took a short trip to Tübingen to spend some time with my fellow American Fulbrighters. We did some catching up, had some dinner, had a few beers...and then I came home to Eislingen the next day. A nice short change of scenery, and always nice to have a bit of English time.
This past week I went to Stuttgart to meet up with a few other people. Went to the art museum. Went to the top of the tower at the train station. Did a little shopping...a lovely time all in all, but I cant say that it was considerably noteworthy.

Other than that, I have finally been getting some more hours in school. I have been going regularly to a 5th grade class. I have also spent a lot of time this week talking about what the Iraq war was like from an American perspective. I could use some positive American energy after that...when dealing with such heavy topics America is graded harshly, and rightfully so, I suppose.

I also participated in winter sports day at school. I took the second shift trip to the ice skating rink. Me and Caro were responsible in collecting the attendance and properly collecting money from each student. Attendance went well, but we later discovered that we failed to properly add and subtract. Whoops! It was nice spending time with some of my regular students outside of the classroom. It was also nice, since the Referandaren came as well. Most were much more talented ice skaters than I...so were my students, for that matter...but it made for some laughs.
In other news...the eis cafe in Eislingen has reopened. I am more than thrilled to be able to eat ice cream at least twice a week, again. Fantastic for my taste buds, probably not so much for my sugar intake.
I also was sure to watch the superbowl. At 12:30am on a Sunday night. I had already informed my students and teachers that Monday was to be a national holiday, either of mourning or celebration. Luckily for those of us hailing from Wisconsin, it was a day of celebration. I spent this day sleeping and then helping Florian build furniter in his apartment. I am not as handy as I would like to be, but at least I am a few rungs above useless. If "witty" were helpful in furniture construction, I would be in business. But alas... At least my German vocabulary now includes tools and building equipment...and random pieces of furniture.
Anyway...that is pretty much the news.
Tomorrow I turn 23. woohoo?? Feels like just another day. And it is. Sort of a let down after Superbowl Sunday, though, to be honest. Florian, Meli and David will stop by for the usual Wednesday tradition of meal cooking and watching of How I Met Your Mother. Its a silly tradition that we started about a month ago...but its really nice to have "the gang" come over every week. Even nicer to have a "gang" at all, if you know what I mean.
We will celebrate my birthday this weekend, when Sharon Strom comes to visit! I have to say that I have been unbelievably lucky with visitors and seeing people in Europe this time around. I am really too excited to explain properly. Then next month Steve is flying over from the US! I have the best friends in the world...
Ill fill you in on my less than exciting birthday celebration after it happens. But, just for the record, life is fantastic. I wish you all the same happiness.
Love.
